The inception of the Rotary club
of Mt Druitt was the work of St Mary's Club back in 1968 when the first
"interest" meeting was held.
After some ten months of
preparation the Rotary club of Mt Druitt was chartered on the 24th September,
1969.
"About 400 people attended the
charter dinner of the district's newest Rotary Club, Mt Druitt in St Marys
Memorial Hall last Wednesday night."
Guests included the Mayor of
Blacktown, Ald V. Corcoran, Rotary District Governor, Tom Howieson, former
District Governors, John Moon, Sleath Lowrey and Mick Shepherd and the
District's Governors special representative, Ted Mainwaring.
